The Chicken Kiev is the GOAT! I’ve been coming here for a while now and I absolutely love it every time. Consistently tasty, perfectly cooked, and full of flavour. Great service and a nice atmosphere too highly recommend!

This restaurant offers an exceptional dining experience, characterized by attentive staff and supportive management. The food is outstanding and provides great value, with generous portion sizes that are sure to satisfy. The vegetarian options are also commendable. I highly recommend this establishment.

One of the best Sunday roast meals I’ve had in my life. It was very reasonably priced too. The total bill for two of us with drinks was 28£. Will definitely go again.

Shahs Halal Food Whitechapel

If you’re hungry and looking for a healthy fulfilling proper meal, Shahs Halal it is!

- Chicken Rice Box - The chicken is well marinated and succulent. The rice is properly cooked. The salad mixed with the chickpeas give the meal a tasty crunch, while the garlic and coriander sauce on top compliments the meal, giving it a flavoursome finish.

Will definitely recommend to those who haven’t tried it or those who are hungry and after something fulfilling, well priced and tasty!

If disappointment had a taste, it would be this meal! oil which they used  kind of different taste don’t feel it’s normal .. . Even my microwave meals taste better. Never try again…..

Cheap and cheerful meal, much better than all the fast food in the area. I has the chicken & lamb over rice. Chicken was tasty and the rice had that Afgan pilau flavour.
However, the lamb was more like frozen lamb burger patties cut up, rather than actual lamb meat off the bone but paid £7 so expected. The green chutney also has the sour, zesty Afgan taste.
Overall, not somewhere I'd eat from everyday but still a tasty, homemade meal.

First, I saw this street vendor selling halal food, and I decided to try several different foods.
I tried the chicken and rice, and it was 10/10 highly recommended. The flavour of the chicken was so tasty, and the sauces they put on top compliments the food.
Then I tried the chicken gyro, and it was a disaster. All the liquid soaked into the bread, and it wasn't pleasant having if highly not recommend this.
They didn't have any falafel even though it shows on the menu, and I was informed they no longer do It as it's time-consuming to make.
Also, they no longer give NHS discounts.
They accept card payments.

Lahore Kebab House

I came with a friend on their recommendation and I loved it. It's not a fancy place though and it's popular so it does get busy and a bit noisy inside. We came on a Monday evening and we were able to get a table without waiting.

As I can't tolerate too much spice, I went for the safe option of a mild butter chicken and ordered a side of the rogni nan. The food came pretty quickly and also with a complimentary side salad.

The butter chicken tasted delicious and the rogni nan which I'd tried for the first time was the perfect accompaniment. The bread was a little thick and buttery and fairly big so it was enough to go with the curry and I didn't feel the need for any rice on top.

One thing to note is that it is a cash only establishment so do make sure you have enough cash with you.

I am still thinking of that rogni nan in particular, and I would definitely like to return.

First time to this unassuming restaurant but won’t be the last. Fantastic lamb chops, dry meat curry and butter nan. Oh and the chicken korai went down a treat as did the mango lassi. Friendly staff and a nice relaxing atmosphere. No frills but one of the best lamb meals we’ve had.

Don't let first impressions fool you at this local gem. Sure, the neighborhood isn't the most picturesque, and the interior feels like it hasn't been updated since the 1990s. But step past the dated aesthetics, and you'll discover why this place has earned its reputation as a beloved institution in the Pakistani community.

The chicken tikka masala here is exceptional – rich, aromatic, and clearly made with care. Each dish arrives bursting with authentic flavors that transport you straight to the subcontinent. The prices are refreshingly reasonable.

A few practical notes for first-time visitors: they don't serve alcohol, but the BYOB policy means you can bring your favorite beer or wine. Come prepared with cash – while they technically accept cards, the reader has a habit of being "temporarily out of order." Fortunately, there's an ATM just around the corner for those caught off guard.

In short, this isn't a place you'd bring someone to impress with ambiance, but if you're seeking genuine Pakistani cuisine at honest prices, it's hard to beat. Sometimes the best food comes from the most unassuming places, and this neighborhood institution proves that point beautifully

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality from Usman/Ozzy. His patience and honesty in explaining the dishes, and even catering to our spice level, made the experience extra special.

The Mutton Tikka was hands down the best I’ve had in London...sizzling, distinctive, and bursting with authentic Lahore flavour. Succulent and cooked to perfection, it transported me straight to Pakistan and was even better than Tayyabs, Needoo or any other Lahore restaurants.

The Lamb Haleem was equally unforgettable ...rich, mouth-watering, and perfectly balanced in flavour without overpowering spice plus generous lamb rather than daals and flour mix.

The home-made rotis, made with mixed flour, were not thick or raw...so good they facilitated taste of curries rather than fill you with thick flour!

The Saag Chicken was another standout – tender, juicy chicken enveloped in aromatic, perfectly seasoned fresh saag. What I loved most was that every dish was full of flavour rather than just heat – no “bum-burning” chilli, just pure, authentic taste.

For me, Lahore Kebab House is simply unbeatable for Indian and Lahori food in London. Nowhere else comes close! Don't waste money anywhere else. Just try Mutton Tikka here you'll be craving for more!

I recently visited this restaurant and had a great experience. The food was delicious, with excellent quality and a wide variety of dishes. In my opinion, this is one of the best places in London for Asian food lovers, including Pakistani, Bengali, and Indian cuisine.

Aladin Brick Lane

Mediocre at best, and as others have said a lot of the reviews are not real. Lacking flavor and spice, and everything served warm.

Lamb samosa were dry and lacked flavor. Shrimp "Blast" was not fresh, and had a strong smell and was mealy - this was supposed to be thier award winning dish. Lamb kurma was gritty and way too sweet. The naan was quite good, but the paratha was gummy. Veggie biryani was decent.  Best part of the meal was the pappadums - although menu says thet are .75p/ea, but somehow got charged £6 for 5 (we made sure to count).

I am sure that they were well reviewed in the past, but thier best days are long behind them. Service was really lacking, and they constantly seem put out just to get us water. Too bad we didn't have Jack serve us, who seems to be mentioned the exact same way in soooo many reviews.

Finally, make sure to check your bill, they seem to just tack on charges. Our bill came to £88.65, but adding it I can't understand how.

I do not recommend at all.

Went here yesterday as a birthday treat given to me by my wife.
Food was excellent , service was very good and attentive decor a little dated but not an issue, would come here again.
Atmosphere i marked down simply because we were the only ones in there as it was early.

My sister and I had a lovely time at Aladin tonight for dinner. Jack was our server and he was polite and very friendly. The food was incredible- I have come here a few times before and I am always happy. Will definitely be back!

Maybe there are hidden gems on brick lane but in 2025 it seems that, like this place, they have all become tourist traps. The food was average at best. Also be weary you can be seated in the windowless basement which is not appealing.

Lovely Little Spot in Bethnal Green

Thai and Pie is a small and intimate place, perfect for a casual meal. The service was quick and efficient, and the staff were polite and helpful throughout. You get a nice view of the kitchen through a glass panel, which adds a sense of transparency and trust to the experience.

I had the prawn red Thai curry with Thai rice, and my partner had the beef green Thai curry. The staff even recommended the best rice to go with each dish, which made a real difference. Both dishes were full of flavour, with just the right amount of spice—not too hot, but with enough kick to be enjoyable and still very edible.

The atmosphere could do with a bit more ambience to match the quality of the food, but overall it was a good experience. I’d definitely go back and would recommend others to try it too—especially the curries!

Quality of food has definitely declined. Chicken satay were rubbery, calamari tasted frozen. The pie crust was good however there wasn’t much filling and the gravy was watery rather than thick.

This is the best drunken noodles I’ve ever eaten. My husband loves his noodles as well. Delicious! The server was attentive and helpful. Will absolutely return when in the city again.

Afghan Grill

Afghan Grill offered a delightful culinary experience with truly good, flavorful food that hit the spot. While the service was competent, it leaned more towards adequate than exceptional. Despite this, the delicious dishes and cozy atmosphere made for an enjoyable meal. Perfect for a casual Afghan food craving!

Today’s experience was good. Food was very good.
Kebabs were marinated and grilled to perfection, mouthwatering.
Salad was fresh, juicy, tangy.
My child also enjoyed the food.
Service was prompt and attentive, not like described by reviews below.

My family and I came here for lunch. We ordered the Grand Grill and really enjoyed it. Everything is delicious, the prices are very low as well. The service was also very good. Anas was our server, he was very kind and took care of us.

I recommend everyone to come here and have the barbecue, it’s authentic, fresh and definitely the best I’ve had for a very good price.

Had the whole chicken with rice, rice (kabuli pilao) was very nice! Whole chicken is rotisserie then on a grill, so wasn't as good as the chicken shish.

Chicken shish and the Chaplin kebab was very nice. Would recommend!

We went to restaurant after seeing Instagram food blogger reviewing the restaurant highly  and was greatly disappointed. It’s does question how authentic these so called food bloggers  are. On arrival the restaurant was smokey. The table we were seated at was dirty and we had to stand for it to be cleaned. The waiter was not attentive to the order in which customers came in. The restaurant is not an authentic afghan restaurant.It is a Bengali owned restaurant with Afghani chefs. We wish to order chips and at 7pm they had run out of chips. The lamb kebab was soggy with sauce and bengali style tomato salad with fresh chillies.  The kabuli pilau barely had any meat only bones and fat. The Chappli Kebab meal was the only meal we enjoyed. The staff really need to work on customer service as the waiter started taking plates and cleaning the table before we had even left. Will not be returning again.

I've found my new favourite place and it rocks! The trio platter delivered an abundance of flavour in every bite. The rice, cooked to perfection. It was so delicious, I couldn't stop to take a full picture of the platter! Highly recommended!

We ordered the trio platter(£20) some fries(£4) & couple of drinks(£6). We called up literally 5 mins before closing time to ask if it’s possible to still order & the friendly polite, member of staff assured us it was good to go. We also didn’t see an option of just wings alone instead a wings platter which would’ve been to much for me & my partner to share on top of what we already was ordering, so we asked if we could order something instead and if they could replace it with just a portion of wings; the lovely gentleman told us we didn’t need to and he’d add this to our order on the house which was an amazing gesture which we really appreciate, not just that, to our surprise we got extra pots of sauce and extra couple drinks.

Now the food: This trio platter is next level! The meats are juicy, smoky, and seasoned to perfection – proper flavor bomb 💥. You’ve got tikka, kebabs, and tender chicken all lined up like a dream team, sitting on a bed of fluffy jasmine rice that just soaks up all the goodness. Add the fresh salad + dips on the side and it’s game over – this is a serious feast. 10/10 recommend if you’re hungry and want something that slaps 👌🔥 Now let’s talk about star of the show - These wings… wow 😮🔥. Perfect char on the outside, juicy inside, and packed with flavor in every bite. They’ve got that smoky, grilled vibe that makes you wanna lick your fingers clean. I found myself warmly welcomed by the staff, especially as a rare Hong Kong local who truly appreciates their Indian cuisine. My brother had been eager to visit this place for a very long time, and I’m glad I was able to fulfill his wish. I’ve dined at this restaurant three times, and each visit has been consistently perfect. The staff are polite and attentive, and the food is always served hot. After paying the bill, they even offer orange slices and delightful candies as a finishing touch. They also took a photo for me and brought me water without me having to ask.

Ordered veg curry , chicken Biryani with dhal and a curry set (meat curry and rice). They had 30 percent off , for £16, ain’t bad food was good quality and nice, decent flavours.

Excellent old school Indian. Used to be a regular haunt of mine when I worked in the city in the 1980's before I moved overseas. Visited for the first time in about 20 years and was delighted to find that it had hardly changed and the food and service were still exceptional.

While visiting London from the US, four locals took me out for a great bit of curry at Halal Restaurant.  The host was super funny and the service was top notch.  It's no wonder that the locals schedule monthly visits here.  Great job!

Shahs Halal Food Shadwell

Ordered from Uber eats. Very disappointed. Asked for bbq sauce with the white sauce for my son. And a mango drink. Was given a cola drink and a load of green sauce on the chips platter with chicken. No way of contacting you guys as the number doesn't go through.

On a very quiet road, empty and clean, delicious food, very hot atmosphere AC needed turning on. However, couldn’t finish food but wasn’t a problem as I could package my food up to take home. Friendly staff. Good prices for the portion given plus free drink included. Will definitely come here again!!

Combo Gyros cost me £8.00 with a drink reasonable price. Combo gyros served in soft pluffy pitta bread with chicken & lamb salad plus all the sauces very nice mix flavour meat & chicken tender soft succulent very tasty.

We used this branch for an event of 30 people nearby. The food was reasonably priced, fresh and perfectly portioned. Taste and flavour profile was on point it really packed a punch. Highly recommend.

Went to the Shadwell branch and tried their food for the first time.

Got their Combo (chicken and lamb) over rice meal that comes with a drink, and it's was a very nice meal. Had all the sauces drizzled on top and the green coriander sauce was very nice. The spice levels were good. The chicken and lamb pieces were given in good portion and tasted good. The rice was nice also.

Definitely recommend to anyone out there!
