Grounded London

Was here for lunch on a weekday. Quite cozy and staff were friendly and helpful. Ordered smoked salmon with poached eggs and a side order of sweet potato fries which were great. The area is quite busy.

Delicious halal breakfast! I ordered the egg & turkey bacon breakfast, and my wife ordered the full English. Loved the fresh Acai smoothie and delicious cappucino. £45 for two is well worth it!
Take note, no reservations here so if you're coming with a party of more than 2, you'll be waiting a while.

The food here was excellent – very filling and full of flavor! Great value for money as the portions are generous for the price. The atmosphere is also really nice and makes it a great place to enjoy a meal.

The only thing I’d suggest improving is the size of the restaurant, as it feels a bit small and can get crowded during busy times. Other than that, everything was great! Definitely recommend.

I don’t know how to start, but the classic beef English breakfast really needs improvement. The beef sausage was flavourless, felt like something from Tesco just cooked and served. The only things I liked were the scrambled eggs, sourdough, and tomato. Honestly, it was just alright, and I don’t get why it’s so popular. I’d recommend picking something else other than the classic beef English breakfast.

Can't really say anything very amazing or very negative about Grounded in Whitechapel. When we arrived it was very busy and were lucky to get a table as there was only 2 of us. The seating layout is quite tight as the location itself is not overly big, we sat at a long table shared with 3 other pairs which was fine. Due to how busy it was the overall atmosphere was just come in, eat, and leave ASAP as the tables were being flipped constantly, and you could see the staff were just trying to manage the level of busy, with that fair play to them but because of this you didn't get that feeling that you could just sit and spend some time at the cafe.
In relation to food, the food was good, but nothing exceptional, the pancakes were okay, if anything the eggs benedict was better.

Halal Restaurant

I found myself warmly welcomed by the staff, especially as a rare Hong Kong local who truly appreciates their Indian cuisine. My brother had been eager to visit this place for a very long time, and I’m glad I was able to fulfill his wish. I’ve dined at this restaurant three times, and each visit has been consistently perfect. The staff are polite and attentive, and the food is always served hot. After paying the bill, they even offer orange slices and delightful candies as a finishing touch. They also took a photo for me and brought me water without me having to ask.

Ordered veg curry , chicken Biryani with dhal and a curry set (meat curry and rice). They had 30 percent off , for £16, ain’t bad food was good quality and nice, decent flavours.

Excellent old school Indian. Used to be a regular haunt of mine when I worked in the city in the 1980's before I moved overseas. Visited for the first time in about 20 years and was delighted to find that it had hardly changed and the food and service were still exceptional.

While visiting London from the US, four locals took me out for a great bit of curry at Halal Restaurant.  The host was super funny and the service was top notch.  It's no wonder that the locals schedule monthly visits here.  Great job!

Very authentic 👌 taste, service is very good and just 15 mins walk from Tower bridge.

Janna Cafe

I’ve never had cuisine from this area of the world and omg best first time I think I could have. The sauces are so good and flavorful. l wanted to try allll the cake options! visit if you’re in the neighborhood or at the Wombats Hostel. Was much needed after traveling all day to get to the hostel

Very friendly staff, colorful and flavorful food. Somali tea is a slightly better, slightly sweeter version of pumpkin spice chai latte (almost same taste from pret a Manager). Chicken was tender, with a unique spice blend. Bathroom clean and modern. Feels like a warm hug after a day of falling in tourist traps in Central Lodon.

This is my second time at this Somali restaurant, and once again, everything was perfect! The food is incredibly delicious, full of authentic flavors, and the portions are generous. The service and the staff are always so welcoming, kind, and attentive. It’s a place where you feel truly well taken care of. I’ll definitely keep coming back — highly recommended!

Janna Cafe is a great spot for a delicious meal. The lamb was tender, fell right off the bone, and was really nice. The sauces were on point, adding great flavour to the dish. The rice was cooked perfectly—light, fluffy, and well-seasoned.

Service was also on point, with friendly and attentive staff. They accept both card and cash payments, making it convenient. Overall, a solid experience and definitely worth a visit!

The food was good, the portions are huge and the price is very affordable.

Dragon's Den Oriental Kitchen

Dragon Den’s Oriental Kitchen – A Soup Lover’s Experience

As someone who adores a good bowl of soup, I’ve always had a soft spot for Dragon Den’s Oriental Kitchen. The first time I tried their Tom Yum soup, I was blown away—it was flavorful, comforting, and honestly one of the best versions I’ve had in a while. Naturally, I couldn’t wait to bring my friend and brother along so they could experience it too.

This time, however, things didn’t quite live up to my expectations. We ordered two Tom Yum soups, but the broth tasted a little different than I remembered, and the mushrooms weren’t cooked through. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t have that same magic that made me fall in love with it before.

On the bright side, their fried dumplings and wontons were excellent—crispy, flavorful, and a definite must-try if you visit. These small bites really delivered and left us impressed.

Despite the hiccup with the soup this visit, I still stand by my love for Dragon Den’s. I’ve had enough good experiences here to know that this might have just been an off day. When I’m craving a warm, comforting bowl of soup, this is still one of the first places that comes to mind.

Verdict: Dumplings and wontons are a win, and the Tom Yum soup—when it’s on point—is something I’ll keep coming back for.

We have been here plenty of times and it is one of our go to places for date night!
Staff are incredibly friendly and are always greeted warmly by staff member called Angel.
Food is always spot and and always great value for money. Affordable meals and generous portions.
We love their chicken katsu curry and their egg fried rice.

A lovely place to enjoy Chinese food. Everything was delicious and flavourful. The only reason I gave 4* and not 5 for the food is my personal preference is I prefer my rice with less soya sauce. There are no bells and whistles, just good food done simply. The atmosphere was nice and clean but perhaps a little dated. The toilet facility is clean, however, there is one toilet for both male and female (which is not a problem if not busy). Customer care was great! Angel greeted us and ensured we were ok from start to finish, thank you for being so kind to us. I would recommend and will definitely be returning.

Service was amazing! The lady was very helpful and friendly. She kindly explained the menu items and altered dish to my preference. The food tasted good and the portions were generous, big enough to feed 2-3 people. I would recommend the salt and pepper platter. Very reasonable pricing. Good selection of drinks. Very clean store.

Delicious food! I always come here with my friends, the customer service is the best. Ordering from home just the same! Very big portions and could easily be shared with 2-3 people. Highly recommend for families, friends or even going by yourself!

Wonderful time at Chophouse

Had dinner at Chop House the other night. Wanted a quiet evening, planning my business and treating myself with some great food and it turned out to be so much more. The place was busy with good ambient vibes perfect for me. I had an absolutely amazing lady looking after me, Zsuzsanna, one of the managers. She was very pleasant with an extensive knowledge about the food menu and also about the drinks. Nothing was too much trouble to her and I could even choose one of their special steak knives for my main course which came with a fascinating story. The quality and presentation of the food was absolutely amazing. It's been a long time that I was impressed as much as I was with this place. Even the manager Martin came to my table for a friendly chat to check on me and to make sure I have an excellent time and thanks to all these personal touches, I had one of my best dining experiences in London.
Thank you for all the Chop House staff for making my evening so special, will be back soon. Fabulous time

I can not rate this restaurant highly enough, the atmosphere is lovely, the staff are incredible and so attentive especially our waiter last night Ali, he went above and beyond complete with talking us through the meat cabinet that he brought to our table and even down to the knives to use for our meats we chose. And now for the food it was incredible from start to finish the melted butter and bread, starters and the chateaubriand and pork chop along with sides to finish off with sticky toffee pudding. Over all absolutely incredible. Thank you for an incredible experience and fantastic food.

Had such a great meal here. The food is simple and classic but done so well. Stand out dishes for me were the Beef & Bone Marrow Crumpet, Lamb Chop and surprisingly the Pea Soope which was a recipe from 1600’s 🤯 Loved it and will be back!

This place is absolutely incredible in so many ways. Firstly, the service from everyone was fantastic with a special mention to Karim who was so friendly - he couldn’t do enough for us. Secondly, the food. Honestly the best steak that we’ve ever had. Cooked to perfection and seasoned beautifully. Finally the menu, there is such a wide choice to choose from, all of which was incredible. We will be back for sure.

Great food, unfortunately dessert took a while to come out. We ordered a selection of steaks, including lamb and pork chops. These were excellent, some of the best I’ve had. The rib eye on the bone was particular great. However they then took an hour to bring out dessert, for which they apologised and gave us a credit on the bill. It was a business dinner though so good food promptly would have been preferred. It was unclear why it took so long.

Good chicken and chips. Hole and the wall restaurant that feels a bit sketchy but the owners are nice people.
