recently ordered from Damal Restaurant through UberEats, and I’ve got to say – it was a top-tier experience. I went for the lamb shoulder meal, and it did not disappoint. The meat was incredibly tender, falling right off the bone – just the way it should be. The meal came with a side of salad and rice, both of which complemented the lamb perfectly. The flavours were well-balanced and satisfying. They also included two sauces – a green and a red one (I forgot the names), but both were bursting with flavour and paired brilliantly with the meat. To top it all off, I ordered a Shani drink, which surprisingly went really well with the whole meal. It added a nice sweet contrast to the savoury dish. Honestly, I’d give it a 10/10. The food was absolutely on point. It’s not your everyday meal – it’s a different experience, and definitely worth trying if you’re after something special.
A party of 11 booked a table. We ordered starters and 2 sharing platters, which were massive! We could take left over home in containers. These grilled lamb and chicken were so tender, moist and delicious. The rice was flavourful. The restaurant opened less than one month when we went. It looked a bid disorganised and the service was really slow! We waited nearly 2 hours before the main came to our table, but it was worth waiting. The Somali tea was really nice. It’s great for a large group. Toilets however needed improving despite it was a new restaurant. There is a room with carpet and stools to sit on. It looked really nice and I suppose it’s for a special occasion. Happy to go back any time.
The food was very delicious and really big portions!! The place is really nice inside reccomend for a somali place to eat!!
I would of given 1 star but I managed to get a bannana with my meal after asking numerous times. Upon ordering I asked for a lamb shoulder, but recieved a lamb shank. When I asked why the change of meat it's because "there wasn't enough" but I saw lamb shoulders being served on other tables. The meat was a really dry one. I was chewing like a cow. It was overcooked. This consistency followed with my friends meal also. The rice was so hard, it wasn't cooked properly and the amount of times I asked for a drink but didn't get one.. It wasn't even busy like that.. Never coming here again. Al Kahf is miles better. (I also found foil in my food that I nearly consumed)
Great food with excellent value. Although I found the main meals a bit dry and could do with a moist sauce base or side sauce. Perhaps chunky veg pieces would work better with the shank with milder flavours than the small veg pieces the taste of it did not compliment the shank. Rice was fresh, hot and fragrant. Shank could be more tender... Seating and atmosphere is clean and vibrant. Bathroom is clean with another hand wash basin for usual hand wash. Excellently priced. Hughly recommended place.
