Located just a couple of minutes’ walk from Shaftesbury Avenue and the heart of Theatreland, and about five minutes from Piccadilly Circus, Cu4tro is a relatively new Mexican restaurant that’s been open for around four months. The interior is spread across two floors — the bar and a few tables occupy the ground level, with additional seating upstairs. We were seated at a table for three on the first floor, which unfortunately hadn’t been properly cleaned — there were crumbs on the surface, and it felt a bit sticky. We started with margaritas, but both the classic and mango versions were overly sweet and unbalanced, lacking the refreshing tartness you’d expect. The Nachos con Guac were underwhelming — both the portion size and the flavour were average, with guacamole that didn’t stand out. For mains, we tried a few dishes: • El Pescador (crispy fish, creamy slaw, pico de gallo, coriander, and house mayo served with salsa verde) — the taco arrived lukewarm, and the fish wasn’t particularly crispy. • Burrito King of Flavour (Mexican-style rice, cheese, lettuce, creamy slaw, black beans, pulled pork) — the pulled pork was fine, but overall the flavours felt muted. • Backstreet Tacos (pulled pork) — again, fairly average, and the fries on the side were limp with an oddly sour sauce. Churros was also too oily and too much sugar on it with the accompanying chocolate sauce was inedible! Service on the first floor was patchy — staff only appeared when bringing dishes, and there were noticeable gaps between courses. Payment is taken at the exit, though this wasn’t explained, so we sat waiting at the table for a while before finding out. Overall, Cu4tro feels like it’s still finding its footing. The atmosphere is fine, but both food and service need polishing. If compared to a fast-casual Mexican benchmark like Wahaca, it would sit below that level in both quality and consistency.
It you're looking for purist Mexican food then this is not the place for you. Good for people keeping an open mind on Mexican cuisine. We had a small misunderstanding about our order but the server was super nice! Food fresh and tasty.
We had a good food here, we ordered many different tacos and quesadillas, most of them were great, however, i think we should had more compared to the price we payed, and two dishes were alright. The staff are nice and friendly, the place is clean and looks good.
Great food and drinks, the staff are helpful and attentive, and just the right ambiance to have an intimate yet casual chat. After a minor hiccup with the bill, Andre was quick to respond and resolve it with me. Now that is what exceptional service is! Definitely worth coming back to.
This place is the place to go, food was amazing, worth it 100%. Michael was amazing, full of humour and great service. Recommend 100%
