Had a wonderful time in Banana Leaf. Staff were great and very helpful. Food was awesome. Chef made special adjustment with onion and garlic as we had puja on the day. Highly recommended.

Was craving uttapum and it did not disappoint! Food was fantastic, most people have the shovel dish but do not sleep on the other items on the menu. We really enjoyed the uttapum and puttu and daal. The service was really slow, I did go on a Friday night but it wasn’t relatively busy. I must give a shout out to Pravita (sorry if i’ve got it wrong( who was super helpful with recommendations and checked in with the kitchen staff if she was unsure about the questions we asked and relayed information back to us. I will be going back to try more dishes. FYI The meat is halal, but they do serve alcohol.

⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (7.5/10) I visited Banana Leaf Ilford today and overall had a good experience. The service was outstanding — very attentive and friendly staff. Portion sizes were generous, more than enough for two people, and definitely great value for the price. The rice was tasty and the fried fish, though a little salty, was well-cooked and crispy. However, I found the curry sauce a bit lacking in flavor, and the naan was quite oily, which might not be the healthiest option. All in all, I’d recommend Banana Leaf Ilford for an occasional visit. It’s a nice spot for trying something different, but perhaps not for regular dining. Overall rating: 7.5/10

Was craving Chettinad chicken so thought we would give it a try. There wasn't enough staff to the number of people dining. I had to go over to the front desk a few times to ask for things. When the food did come it was average. I've eaten a lot of south Indian and Tamil cuisine so my expectations were high. I ordered some lamb samosa's which turned up rock hard. There were so many tables that still had dirty plates on them with no one sitting there. The floor under the tables were very dirty too. I had fish skin on the floor next to me. The one good thing were the two ladies who were front desk. They were running around like headless chickens tending to everyone and still managed to do everything with a smile and respect. More staff were needed tonight. Would I come back again? Probably not.
